RE: Request under the Texas Public Information Act

To the officer for public information:

This is a request under the Texas Public Information Act, Chapter 552 of the
Government Code. I ask for the following records:

Mail-return and service-of-notice records: notices returned undelivered,
2023 to present, with the address used and the address on file for the
same party.

Please provide these in electronic form where they exist in electronic form --
a spreadsheet or delimited export rather than a scan or a PDF print, and the
native file rather than a report generated from it. If a record exists in a
database, I am asking for an export of the underlying data, not a summary.

A few things the statute already provides, noted so we can avoid a round of
letters about them:

  * I am not required to state a reason for this request, and my identity and
    purpose are not relevant to whether these records are public.
    Gov't Code 552.222(b).
  * If any part of this is withheld, the governmental body must ask for an
    Attorney General decision within ten business days and must tell me it has
    done so. Gov't Code 552.301. Records not the subject of a timely request
    for a decision are presumed public. Gov't Code 552.302.
  * If some records are public and some are not, please release the public ones
    rather than holding the whole request while the rest is decided.
    Gov't Code 552.006.
  * If this will cost more than $40, please send an itemized written estimate
    before doing the work, as required by Gov't Code 552.2615, and I will tell
    you whether to proceed. If a narrower date range or a smaller set of fields
    would reduce the cost substantially, tell me and I will narrow it.

If any of this is unclear, or if a small change in wording would let you answer
it from a report you already run, please call or write -- I would rather send a
request you can fill easily than a perfectly worded one you cannot.
